Do you want to vote in the next election but have never registered to vote in New Jersey?

Have you recently moved to or within Bloomfield but haven't updated your voter registration?

Do you need to change your name or party affiliation on your voter registration?

You can do all this by downloading the New Jersey Voter Registration form by clicking the link below! Print the form after you download it, fill it out completely, sign the form and follow the instructions on the form to mail it to the Essex County Clerk.

You must meet all these requirements to register to vote in New Jersey:

  • You must be:
    • a United States citizen
    • at least 18 years old by the next election
    • a resident of your home county (Essex) for at least 30 days before the election
      (This means that to vote in the November 4, 2014 General Election you must have lived in Essex County since at least October 4, 2014 even if you didn't live in Bloomfield yet.)
  • You are not eligible to register to vote if:
    • you are, as a result of a conviction for an indictable offense under state or federal law:
      • serving a prison or jail sentence, or
      • currently on probation or parole
    • or you have been adjudged mentally incompetent

Additional voter registration requirements:

  • An original copy of the NJ Voter Registration form with the voter's handwritten signature must be submitted; fax and other electronic submissions are not acceptable.
  • The NJ Voter Registration form must be received by the Essex County Clerk no later than 21 days prior to the next election in order to vote in that election. This means that if you wish to vote in the November 4, 2014 General Election your form must be received no later than October 14, 2014.
