Vote by Mail

Did you know that in New Jersey you can vote by mail, and you don't need to provide a reason? Whether you have to work on Election Day, cannot arrange for child care, are disabled, or just don't feel like going to the polls, you may now choose to vote by mail instead. Now there's no reason not to vote!

To vote by mail:

  • You must be a registered voter
  • You must submit an Application for Vote by Mail Ballot form to the Essex County Clerk
  • Your vote-by-mail application must be received by the County Clerk no later than 7 days prior to the election. This means that if you wish to vote by mail for the 2014 General Election your vote-by-mail application must be received no later than October 28, 2014.

Mailing instructions are provided with the downloaded form. Because an original signature is required, the County Clerk will not accept faxed or emailed copies of the vote-by-mail application.
